Merry christmas and a happy new year!!!

Hi everyone, hope you have had a great xmas holiday, I know I have. It was great to go back to nottingham and see some of my friends and spend quality time with my parents. It was made better when my fantastic girlfriend Anna came to join me on the Monday. Were spending new year with some of her freinds and family which should be good.

The holidays has been a great time for me to relect on the highs and lows of the last year. To be fair there wern't really that many lows, apart from losing a couple of crap jobs (that really aren't worth caring about) and liverpool not winning the leauge. On the plus side I now have a degree which i'm sure a few of you out there thought may never happen (to be fair at one stage neither did I) and I have a fantastic oppertunity to make the radio station for not just myself but the whole student community and I will work my ass off to try and make this work.

Along the way I have learnt a few lessons. First of all is who I can and can't trust. Over the last 12 to 18 months I have been let down by a lot of people who I thought were. I knew going into the radio industry that it is a dog eat dog world but what I wasn't expecting is that it would be that way at university. Students and lecturers alike, some of them are only out to help themselves, which by all accounts is ruining it for others at the uni and thats a shame, as we all pay the same fees, share the same bars and attend the same graduations. And this hasn't just been at my university, I have seen it happen at others too! Also I have had to move on from a big dissapointment in someone who I thought was close to me. I don't really mind being let down a couple of times, but repeatedly over the last 4 months has taken it's toll and for not just my sake but the sake of the business I can no longer carry on this way and have moved on. So if your smart enough to work out who you are, well i'm very dissapointed and I thought much better of you all.

So the people i'd like to thank for thier love, help and support this year are:
Carolyn, Bob, Sylvia, Richard, Jane, DC, Stephen G, Stephen R and Tim. For all the help and guidance you have given me in regards to the setting up of the radio station. I may not also be able to show it but I will always be eternally greatful for showing faith in me and my crackpot ideas.

Sarah, Martin, Ian, Barry. For being great examples of why i'm setting up the radio station and for all your technical knowledge in the subject.

Mike, Tim, Matt, Jenn and Steve. For being some of the best friends a bloke could have.

And last on my list, My Mum, Dad and Anna. For being there when ever I need you and and for all the support you give me. I love you all with all my heart.

Well I hope you all have a great new year and I hope that that 2010 brings all that you can ask for! And on behalf of Tim, Stephen, Jenn and myself we hope you all tune into Varsity Radio when it finally fully goes live on Monday 11th Jan at 4pm.

Had enough!

While i'm writing this it's half time in the Liverpool vs Portsmouth game and were loseing 1-nil. Well i've had enough, after coming a very close second last season we are no where this season. I think Rafa really has lost the plot and I do think it is time to pack your bags and move along. Now i'm not saying I know who should take over but I do think it is time for someone else to give it a go.

On another note I'm so so so fed up of the rage against the machine song now. If one more person asks me or tells me to buy it i'm gonna stick it somewhere not very nice. It's a crap song and has a lot of bad language in, so is this the kind of song we want our children to remember as a xmas no1. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind the idea of a Simon Cowell song not being number but you could have picked a better song, so i'm casting my vote for x factor. And as the lyrics say "f**k you, I won't do what you tell me"!!!

I'm sure the next one will be happier!!!

Hey there, My name is Anthony Evans and this is my blog, Welcome along! I'm currently 27 and living in Stoke on Trent. In the summer of 2009 I graduated from staffordshire university with a Ba in Music broadcasting and have since setup and become the station manager of a brand new internet radio station called Varsity radio. Varsity is the UK's first and only national student radio station with it's content aimed at all aspects of college and university life.
